A festive and edible holiday bowl made entirely from peppermint candies—perfect for serving treats or gifting goodies, with no baking required.

This candy bowl was a huge hit at our family holiday party last year. Everyone loved filling it up with mini cookies and wrapped chocolates—and I loved how simple it was to create with just candies and an oven.

Ingredients

  • Candy: 30–36 round peppermint hard candies (unwrapped)

Instructions

Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
Prepare Baking Sheet:
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
Arrange Candies:
Arrange the peppermint candies in a tightly packed circle on the prepared baking sheet, creating a flat disc large enough to cover the outside of your chosen bowl (about 8–9 inches in diameter for a medium bowl). Place candies with edges touching—do not leave gaps.
Bake:
Bake for 7–9 minutes, watching closely. The candies will melt and fuse together but should not brown.
Cool Briefly:
Remove from the oven and let cool for 1 minute—just until the candy is pliable but not too hot to handle (use oven mitts or gloves).
Shape Bowl:
Quickly (and carefully) invert a heatproof bowl (about 6 inches in diameter) upside down.
Form Over Mold:
Carefully lift the melted candy disc with the parchment and drape it over the inverted bowl, gently pressing down the sides to shape it. Hold for a few seconds until it starts to set.
Cool Completely:
Let cool completely (about 20 minutes) before removing the peppermint bowl from the mold.
Remove & Fill:
Peel off the parchment paper. Fill with holiday treats as desired.

Recipe FAQs

What type of candies work best for this bowl?

Round peppermint hard candies that melt evenly are ideal. Avoid candies with added coatings or fillings for a smooth finish.

Can I use colored candies?

Yes, mixing traditional peppermint with green or red hard candies adds a decorative touch without affecting structure.

How do I prevent the bowl from sticking to the mold?

Using a lightly greased, heatproof bowl helps release the cooled candy shape easily without breaking.

What treats can I fill the bowl with?

Wrapped candies, cookies, or dry snacks work best. Avoid moist or sticky items that could soften the candy shell.

How long does the candy bowl last?

Store in a cool, dry place to keep it firm and prevent stickiness. It typically lasts several days under ideal conditions.
